Gas Safety Week 2016 is just three months away – here’s what you need to know.

As well as our much-loved power flushes, Power Flush Wizard offers Gas Safe boiler servicing, which further increases the boiler efficiency that our central heating cleaning provides. Naturally, the engineers who carry out this servicing are Gas Safe registered, which will assure you that they have all of the relevant qualifications, experience and training to safely and effectively carry out any work on the gas systems in your home.

Choosing to work only with engineers who are Gas Safe registered allows you to massively reduce – if not eliminate – such risks as gas leaks, fires, explosions and carbon monoxide poisoning.

To further alert people to the benefits of gas safety and the dangers that gas can bring if the highest levels of safety are not reached, the Gas Safe register holds an annual, week-long event called Gas Safety Week, with 2016 set to be its sixth year.

The dates of 19th to 25th September are now confirmed, with more than 2,400 companies and organisations having already agreed to take part, so make a note in your diaries!

Doing our utmost to raise gas safety awareness

More detailed information about this year’s activities will be revealed closer to the time, but we reckon they’ll follow in a similar vein to the previous year’s event.

For example, 2014 saw us introduced to Doug, the Gas Safe Hero. Doug toured up and down the country – focusing on some of the most gas dangerous locations – to deliver the Gas Safe message. The 2014 event launched at the Houses of Parliament and generated nearly 600 pieces of media coverage.

Last year, a record-breaking 5,123 supporters congregated to promote gas safety, focusing on encouraging the public to book their annual gas safety check. Radio and online competitions were launched, millions of people were reached on social media and more people than ever took steps to improve their gas safety.

It’s fair to say that Gas Safety Week has come a long way since its humble beginnings in 2011 – who knows what this year’s event could bring? All we know is, the more that can be done to raise awareness of the very real importance of gas safety, the better.
